We had a special thanksgiving week-end in Edmonton. The venue was at Argyll Park and the weather was surprisingly amazing. Temperatures almost reached 20 degrees celcius and the sky was clear and blue. The conditions have been very pleasant for races all season, we haven’t encounter rain or snow and have been able to run on grass tires all season. The only variable has been tire pressure.
In my opinion this weekends course was a road riders delight because there were 3 long flat sections. The course also had steep and off camber climbs, a few force dismount climbs and barriers set up along the flats for the few who could bunny hop them. The first 2 races on Saturday were a bit tricky due to the presence of frost, there were a few corners that were slippery. Saturday’s race was run in a clockwise direction and on Sunday it was reverse. I felt that the course was slightly faster and easier on Sunday because the climbs were less steep. For both days there were several places on the course where you could accelerate on a descent and get speed up for the climb, if you took advantage of this you could get ahead quick and easily.
We enjoyed coffee and snacks at Transcend and stayed at the comfortable, clean and economical Chateau Motel. Race results were good. Cindy placed 4th in both races. Stephen Andrichuck had a great race on Saturday he rode hard and finished 7th. This will be the last race we drive to Edmonton for this season. Next race weekend race will be in Calgary/Red Deer.
